Opening a lifetime of memories to the public

Nestled in the lush bushland of Port Stephens, The Ambers is more than a dreamy holiday spot; it’s an evolution in a family’s relationship with their environment and with each other. They say it takes a village – every detail was scrutinised in this collaboration between Three Birds Renovations, Lauren Charge and her sister-in-law Jenn Bliss; not to mention the superb architectural design and construction by Lauren’s brother at Greenbuild Constructions.

Now managed by Lauren and her mum, The Ambers is a family project like no other –  a stunning example of design with intent and humility, with Corinthian Doors proud to play its role in achieving the architect’s vision and creating a welcoming, luxurious atmosphere for guests while staying true to its origins.

Embracing and celebrating one family’s journey

This renovation was a labour of love for Lauren and her family. Inspired by their mother’s planting of 49 Liquidambar trees along the driveway decades ago, The Ambers reflects the family’s enduring connection with their home and Port Stephens. Lauren fondly recalls the vibrant life this home has hosted over the years.

Growing up, our home was always full of life. When the upkeep became too much, we decided to renovate and share our home with the world, in the hopes of keeping it in the family for generations to come.

– Lauren Charge

The renovation seeks to both celebrate the family’s cherished memories while making new ones – an invitation for visitors to come, stay, connect and celebrate the natural beauty of this small slice of the world.

The love affair begins by walking through an open door

At The Ambers, guests are greeted by the warm embrace of Corinthian’s Elements ELEM A2 door. This choice doesn’t just add character—the Elements entrance door sets the tone for what’s inside. Complemented by our Deco 4S doors in a lighter finish for the interiors and with Dulux White Beach Half used throughout the home, the transition from outside to inside flows seamlessly. Exuding elegance and cohesion, the warm timber of the Elements entrance is mirrored by the exposed timbers of the living room window frames.

Each Corinthian door was carefully chosen to enhance the light, luxurious feel of the home, with deep-cut routing and premium finishes for the Deco internal doors elevating spaces and creating a consistency across the home.

A home designed for gatherings

With six bedrooms, six ensuites, and spacious living areas, The Ambers accommodates up to 22 people, making it perfect for large family gatherings.

This large layout, complemented by features like a pool, tennis court, outdoor bar, and fire pit, turns the home into a true haven for relaxation and connection. And it’s in the details that these qualities are brought to life.

The interiors at The Ambers create a sense of tranquility for those hotter summer months. The lighter tones of the Deco 4S doors inside pair beautifully with the Vintage Beige exterior palette from Dulux. Every element is meticulously chosen, from KESI Limestone tiles in the bathrooms to a sintered stone vanity by Signorino Tile Gallery, adding to the sophisticated yet relaxed aesthetic.

Incorporating timber frames and large floor-to-ceiling windows, the living spaces open to the lush greenery outside, inviting nature in and reflecting the value this family has placed on their surrounds and the unique beauty of NSW’s central coast.

The Ambers is a testament to thoughtful design and a celebration of family history, supported by Corinthian Doors and Three Birds Renovations. It’s a home that invites comfort and connection, one where memories are made and cherished, and where the legacy of a family continues to grow.
